While your front wing creates vertical lift, your stabilizer has a downward acting force, which prevents the front wing from nose-diving. A larger stabilizer translates into more front foot pressure, while a smaller stabilizer equals less front foot pressure.
The North stabs are mounted on top of the fuselage, which helps them to avoid turbulence from the flow of the front wing, creating a smoother ride. This top mounting also gives the rider an early breach warning - the stab pierces the water surface first, giving you a better chance of recovery before your front wing gets too high.
Like the Front Wings, all Sonar Stabilizers are pre-preg carbon construction, ensuring optimal stiffness and direct performance. The thin profile section reduces drag, while the material properties help maintain structural integrity and rigidity.
Stabs have a huge influence on performance. As you progress to smaller wing sizes, we recommend changing to a smaller stabilizer to be more manoeuvrable. Experienced riders will really feel the difference. A new tail can have a big impact on your style.

Not only is the leech just tight. The whole wing now maintains its shape when de-powered with almost zero flutter through the whole canopy. Thus, the reaction time from de powering to sheeting on is almost instantaneous. With incredible stability when in the neutral position when either riding a trough down wind or surfing holding onto the front handle.
During a downwinder it also aids the wing maintaining flight even with zero apparent wind, keeping the wing up instead of collapsing down to your feet.
Minimizing Strut Flex
As the wing powers up or when hit by a gust there’s less strut flex enhancing acceleration control and power, with a much more precise feel. There’s seriously a stark difference.
When jumping this is even further evident with the wing not folding in half, aiding hang time and lift.
The draft has moved forward, enhancing upwind ability, reducing stalling as you point closer to the wind whilst also taking you deeper off the wind.
Tip Angles
They're critical in terms of how the wing reacts while surfing, keeping the wing flying true, being able to actually lean and drive off the wing on your backhand and avoid any annoying movements or flipping.
To plagiarize a popular surf brands phrase, 'only a SMIK wing-surfer knows the feeling'. And unlike other brands who have different wings for different purposes. SMIK Wing Dings cover surf, freeride and race. And firmly believe we’re ahead of the game in all formats, with the one wing.
Rigid Handles are maintained to convert rig tensions directly through your hands. There’s no point having a tight leach and rigid struts with the direct connection to that efficiency lost through sloppy handles. When you pump the wing, the transition of power from the wings leech creates direct drive to your foil thus, instantaneous lift. A crisp, direct feel which will be unrivalled.
Double Air Valves
Placed either side of the center strut, they allow for super rapid deflation.
In the ever rapidly evolving times of wing board development the Smik foil boards have evolved with the optimum balance of early lift with minimal friction/drag when rails and tails catch on the water when flying or turning. Retail and customers are already finding them to be a market leader in terms of performance and a marked improvement on the previous incarnation.
Nose Volume has been reduced to reduce swing weight enhancing reactivity, whilst being less effected by wind, without reducing stability.
A refined chined rail has been further enhanced to reduce the catching of rails when they come into contact with the water, pulling in at the tail for pulling tighter carves, where the tail has a propensity to touch the surface, reducing the effects of catching Kicker in the rocker is maintained as it certainly sell helps to reduce water catching, but has been shortened to increase the flat in the rocker to enhance early lift off.
Footstrap and foil positioning in relationship to this volume is what's critical, where Smik feel they have the balance just right for the perfect flight.
The outline maintains width in the nose and tail for stability whilst maintaining an aesthetically pleasing surf style look. The new hipped pintail maintains area at the back foot, whilst combining with the bottom shape of the chine, pulling in behind the back foot. The reason being during tighter turns and coming off the lip, quite often the corners of the tail would be catching as you tend to ride lower to the water in tight turns to keep foil tips from breaching and cavitating.
Smik managed to further surpass handling, control and speed with a combination of materials which helps the SMIK wing maintain its performance traits further into its lifespan. Canopy With the use of the heavier grade (81grm-m2) Challenge code tec 95P fabric, not only does it’s its shape held better whilst overpowered, it also has a super responsive crisp feeling. The life span of this material is also FAR superior. With extensive testing over a West Australian summer the wing utilising this material although weathered, held its original shape from when it was first pulled out of the bag. The coloured leading edge fabric is the traditional weight (54grm-m2) which allows the wing to breathe a little better in pumping up onto the foil and not feeling too rigid.
This versatile adapter seamlessly connects to both the Axis 19mm Aluminum Doodad and the Axis Carbon Fiber Mast, facilitating easy compatibility with the Code fuselage.

The “Flare 14” rear stabilizer has tips swept upwards to form the rudders for added stability and even flight, but also offers fast turning pivot points, especially when wave riding.
Designed for thoselooking for a more "locked-in" feel, the "Flare” 14 is the recommended tail wing for tow foilers riding the Vyper or Vortex model, beginner foilers, or kiters.
The “Carve 16” rear stabilizer wing is more drawn out and slightly longer than the “Flare 14” stabilizer and down curved, offering you more stability and, longer glide with better pumping action, but more able to turn than the race 18, but sacrifices some pump.
The "Carve 16″ was designed for all-around foiling, pumping and wave riding. The profile allows quick and controlled turning aspects.
The "Race 18" stabilizer provides excellent raw stability. Designed for longer pumping and downwind riding, the “Race 18” rear stabilizer wing is the ultimate fine-tuned wing for riders demanding extra glide and pump and is especially good for flatwater pump action.
To add some maneuverability, many riders opt to chop down to 13 or 14 inches. This allows you to put the Hyper on edge and turn easier while retaining some pump. Popular model with our team riders who love to chop and experiment with smaller sizes.
For a softer, less locked-in ride, choose the down-sweep tail “the Carve 16” which also makes pumping easier.
Beginners are recommended to use the Carve 16 for Hyper and Flare 14 for Vyper.

Hyper² is the first wing in our range that utilizes our new 2-bolt fuselage system for an easier, yet tighter fit.
This wing design screams high performance. Upgraded for 2022, the Hyper² has been designed to have the same look and feel as the original Hyper, but it is much faster and more efficient, with a broader speed range and a much higher top end. The thinner profile and narrower tips produce less drag.
High-performance high-aspect upgraded for 2022
Faster and more efficient than previous Hyper
Higher top-end speed
Lower lift coefficient producing smoother take-offs making it easier to ride
Intermediate to pro guys for winging, pump, down-winders and small waves
Tighter turning radius for even tighter turns
If you want to go like a rocket, this is the wing for you.
The Hyper² has a lower lift coefficient producing smoother take-offs making it easier to ride, and giving it an even more balanced feel than its popular predecessor.
Designed for intermediate to pro guys who like to pump, ride down-winders and ride small waves and pump back out the back without stopping. We have tightened the turning radius for even tighter turns. If speed, pump and carve is what you are after in a high-aspect wing, the Hyper² is the wing for you.
Five size profiles provide options for high-aspect foilers no matter what they want to do. Whether you want to go down-winding, kiting, wind winging, or pump around the local foil park all afternoon, the Hyper² is your go-to.
Note: May not be compatible with the older 1 bolt fuse. Requires new 2-bolt fuselage.
The groundbreaking collaboration between Erik Antonson (the Progression Project) and Unifoil’s designer and inventor of the high aspect wing, Clifford Coetzer is finally here.
This is no ordinary foil, this wing is the result of uncompromising dedication and attention to detail. Erik, and Unifoil’s years of combined knowledge and experience designing and studying foil sections, profiles, outlines and cambers have gone into the design that we are calling the High Aspect 3.0.
The Progression gives riders a stable platform to build on whether you are a beginner to intermediate rider wanting to figure out your pump, or a pro doing backflips, we have sizes and setups to suit all. Put simply, the Progression wing will take you from where you currently are, and propel your riding level into the stratosphere.
"My goal in designing the progression mast was to create the ultimate surf mast. Flex is the enemy of response, both in surfing and pumping, so we've made the mast a touch thicker at the fuse connection, increasing stiffness. It may be a surprise to hear its a touch thicker than the Katana, and in theory, slower, but in practice the added stiffness is allowing us to fly higher on the mast, longer, reducing the wetted area, and gaining efficiency. This results in a more efficient pump thorough a reduction in drag. While riding a larger wing, or being a heavier rider, the benefits of reducing mast flex is immediately felt in overall control of the foil.
The leading edge of the mast is vertical, and the bottom 40% does not taper, so you have an incredibly reliable foil section in the water during turns, creating consistent and confident movement. We've found we can push harder through our turns with increased flow. The mast is 800mm, which is my favorite length for prone, tow and downwind. The baseplate has been redesigned completely compared to the Katana. The bolts are set closer which allows for more forwards placement in the tracks. 1.2 inches in mast position is gained. The baseplate is tapered at the mast connection, additionally reducing initial drag on takeoffs or touchdowns. Since riding the Progression 800 mast, it's all I want to ride now."
The Progression tails are tuned to a neutral foot pressure. They have evolved out of the Shiv tail, the most popular of the 3 packs we’ve sold. The Progression tail is fairly thin giving it some extra speed and pumping efficiency over the Shiv. Unifoil also pulled the tips in a bit more for sharper angles in turns.

Designed by Adam Bennetts & Clifford Coetzer in search of the ultimate all-around surf foil.
A cross between the Vortex and the Hyper.
The carve and ease of turning of the Vortex.
The ease of pump and efficiency of the Hyper.
What do you get when you mix a Hyper with a Vortex?
Introducing the Vyper Designed by Adam Bennetts & Clifford Coetzer in search of the ultimate all-around surf foil, the Vyper was born. A cross between the Vortex and the Hyper. We took the best attributes of each model. The carve and ease of turning of the Vortex, and the ease of pump and efficiency of the Hyper.
This is the one foil to rule them all.
After many prototypes, and many hours of testing various aspects of the foil by our top team riders Adam Bennetts and Dylan Wichmann, everything from the wingspan to the thickness of the foil was experimented with, until the best setup for speed, glide, and performance was chosen.
A span that is wide enough to create enough lift, but not too wide to make turning difficult. Just enough down-sweep on the tips to loosen the foil up, but not lose efficiency. Just enough thickness in the profile to generate lift, but not create too much drag.
If you love to rip on the wave and want to take your foiling to the next level, from high-speed carves to ping down the face and hitting hard G forces, the Vyper will be sure to bite.
If there is only one model you need to own, it’s the Vyper.
Innovative solution to mount a foil on board in 30 seconds.
4x M8 stainless threaded rods are pre-mounted on the board using existing T-nuts, gently pushing on the bottom of the foil box, maintaining the desired position of the foil on the board.
Then all you have to do is place the foil on 4 rods and hold it in place by screwing on the Foil Fix nuts by hand. You can then go and foil 20 seconds later! The shape of the nuts are designed with low drag in mind.
An extra small tool is supplied to apply more tension if needed, or to facilitate the unscrewing of the nuts after your session.
